HERE IS THE RECIPE!
Just Dump it in Bean Soup

1-2 Ham steaks or ham bone with ham and/or 3 ham Hocks
1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
1 15 oz tomato sauce
1 15 oz can of ea or any combo of beans-rinced (can use dried beans-follow directions
for soaking) Cannelloni, Navy, Pinto, Black, Dark Kidney, Light Kidney beans
(or any other beans you like)
1 Medium onion, chopped
3 gloves garlic, diced or 1 Tbs minced garlic in a jar (again to taste)
2 Tbs fresh basil chopped or 2 tsp. dried basil
1-2 cups chopped carrots (or small bag of julienned carrots)
1-2 cups chopped celery
Salt (may need little to none), Pepper and Hot sauce to taste
1 tsp baking soda (anti-toot secret)
3 handfuls of fresh spinach
In an 8 quart pot, add 2-3 qts of water. DUMP in all ingredients except spinach. Cover, bring to boil, lower and simmer 3-5 hours.Take out ham and cut up to bite size. Soup can be done in a crock pot-6 hrs on High or 10 hrs on Low. Tastes even better the next day! Serve with crusty Italian bread!
TIPS: Go to Salad bar at grocery store for already chopped Onions, Celery and carrots
Use 1 tsp Baking soda to cut down on the "toots"
Use Crockpot. Cut everything night before, assemble in crock pot , refrigerate
and then next am turn it on.
